For some reason my PC has stopped reading a few drives i have installed. Im just looking for a little input on what could have went wrong.

Everything was alright just a few minutes ago, all drives were showing (In" My Computer") and then all of a sudden, poof, they were gone. For a little while my DVD & CD-roms went away until i put a disc in them. RATM my 8-in-1 card reader, which was working not that long ago, is not doing anything at all.

I'm going to power down after this to see if that helps.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For the USb problems, try this, often helps:

Shutdown and unplug all USB devices.
Boot to BIOS Setup and load defaults (F5 or F9 usually).
Boot XP, open a command prompt, enter set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1. Leave the command prompt window open.
Open Device Manager, click on View then Show hidden devices. Scroll down to USB and click on the plus to expand it. Uninstall them one at a time. DO NOT uninstall your mouse if you are using a USB mouse.
Shutdown and reboot, let XP rediscover everything and load necessary drivers. This can take a few minutes, be patient.

Now try the USB device/devices, see what happens.
