trojan horse PSW.OnlineGames infection! [RESOLVED]

hi there,

I got this infection from somewhere which I don't know, can't trace it. I'm using AVG free edition 7.5 and it is able to scan the viruses but not able to delete them. It hangs my computer to the point I can't do anything about it except restart it and the thing repeats all over again.

So this is what I did, I google the name of the virus (trojan horse PSW.OnlineGames) and that's how I found this site. OK, this guy, evolutionpill, had the same virus as mine and he's saved by kahdah here

So I guess my problem here can be solved :) hopefully! I have a lot of important document files in my harddisk for my work and my leisure so I really can't afford to lose them through reformatting.

I'm not sure whether it is rude to PM kahdah to view my thread here as I'm still new here and not sure about your culture and conducts but what the [bleep], I'll PM him later :)

Oh ya, one more thing is, I'm a real noobie with computers ( and I guess I don't qualify to be a geek :) ) so I might not know some terms and linguals...so be patient with me yeah :)

almost forgotten about the hijackthis log file...This is what I did, open trend micro Hijackthis V2.0.2 and I did a system scan and saved a logfile and then I copy and paste whatever that is in the notepad.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.

    **When ready to Reply on the forum, please Paste the content of the latest log which is located at the root of the drive where the OTMoveIt folder is:

After that Please download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Post back also with the OT Move it log as well please. :)

I redownloaded Combofix from your post on top(3rd post) and I copied and paste the script and dragged it into combofix and the same problem saying that my combofix is an outdated version just like in the screenshot on my previous post.
Really sorry this happenned :) so what do I do now? should I delete the C:\ComboFix.txt? Awaiting your advice :)

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".

  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script

  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

I did the fix.reg merging registry thingy already.

Now I'm stuck with the green on for the Avenger (step 3). After copy and pasting the words in the quote box and hitting the green light there's an error message saying ''selected files does not appear to be valid script''

I attached a screenshot of the view/edit magnifying glass window with I pasted those words and the screenshot of the error message

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
    Click "Exit" to close OTMoveIt.

    **When ready to Reply on the forum, please Paste the content of the latest log which is located at the root of the drive where the OTMoveIt folder is:
    C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\********_******.log
    (where "********_******" is the "date_time")
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

I see that you have uTorrent installed.
Having P2p programs such as these raise the possibility of getting infected again.
See here for information on P2P's.
I will leave it up to you if you want to remove it.
To remove it just simply uninstall it then delete this folder>C:\Program Files\UTorrent

After that Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner
(This scanner is for use with internet explorer only)
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
    Click "Exit" to close OTMoveIt.

    **When ready to Reply on the forum, please Paste the content of the latest log which is located at the root of the drive where the OTMoveIt folder is:
    C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\********_******.log
    (where "********_******" is the "date_time")
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Also a new Hijackthis log as well please.
