i just purchased a maddog domintator cd-rw. it came with nero. i installed everything and when i tried to burn a blank disc it said it used image recorder. it looked like it was recording but when i tried to play the disc nothing happened. i updated nero but still had the same problem. i then went to device manage and found an exclamation mark on the device. i clicked on it and the message NTKERN.VXD device loaders for this device could not load the device driver. i tried reinstalling it but i just came up with the same message. help!!!!

Welcome web20005 <_<

Make sure that the Hidclass.sys, Hidparse.sys or Hidusb.sys files are in the Windows\System32\Drivers folder. If any are missing, extract a new copy of that file from the OEM Windows 98 CD-ROM, then install the file in the Windows\System32\Drivers folder. To do this:

1. Click Start, then click Run and type SFC.

2. Click Extract one file from installation disk.

3. In the "Specify the system file you would like to restore" box, type the name of the missing file, then click Start.

4. In the "Restore from" box, type the following line drive:\Win98 where drive is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive.

5. In the "Save file in" box, type the following line, then click OK: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers

6. Click OK, then click OK again.

7. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.

Repeat these steps to reinstall each missing file.

Hi
Is this the only cdrom you have in your system? what is the jumper set to on the back of the cdrom? you should have the maddog set to master and if you have a other cdrom that one should be set to slave after you know that the jumpers are set right uninstall all cdroms then restart you computer and let windows reinstall them let us know if this helps if not there is some other things we can look to fix this.

This seems to be a problem with the Windows 98 USB drivers. My earlier instructions should have worked. I've attached the needed files to this post. Download, unzip, and copy them to your C:Windows\System32\Drivers folder.
