Apparently I do not have a burner. I clicked save target as desktop. It is there. But when I right click the boot on the desktop I do not have a burn image option. I have a copy to CD option. I clicked that and it said cannot copy to AUDIO cd. Don't know if there's a difference in cd's..is there 1 for audio and another kind for images? I am such a dummy on this stuff....

And you are correct. I grabbed the CD from the wrong stack. I have it burned. Now, I have to run to the store. If you are not here when I return maybe we can pick this up later tonight or in the morning. I will not do anything else until you are here...... I won't be gone very long so I am hoping you will still be on.

type

rename c:\windows c:\bakwin
<enter>

rename c:\progra~1 c:\bakpf
<enter>

rename c:\mydocu~1 c:\backMD
<enter>

rename c:\command.com c:\command.bak

Now, reboot with that windows98 setup cd you have and it should start setup and will not give you the error about only meant for new drives.

In about an hour, you will have a windows installation and we can go on about getting everything in the right spot.

When you say that Windows 98 setup cd, are you talking about the 1 you had me copy or my original Windows 98 cd?

original...the one that you had in when you got the message":

Then it goes to a page of setup that says my comp already has an operating system on it and this windows disc is designed for comp's without a system installed.
