hit ok, told me to take the cd out, i did but i replaced it with the boot cd and then let it shut down. now restating with it and back at the a prompt...changed it to c: and typed what you said. both came back as Bad Command or File Name

Dang, gotta be there....hate to ask, but I guess I need to see the whole thing....a floppy would be very nice now. because we could redirect the output to a text file.

This just cannot be that hard

I must just be forgetting something....let me install windows 98 on an old box and get back to you.....take a break....come back tonight as this will take me a couple hours.
