Oh and how can I go and dl something on a comp that won't go anywhere? I am still confused about one thing...my comp shows I have Windows 98 and my Windows cd says Windows 98 Second Edition. I think I have just plain old 98.

put the cd in another computer....double click MY COMPUTER, right click the CD-DRIVE, choose EXPLORE.....look for a big directory full of files that end *.CAB

Hi gerryf. I have looked EVERYWHERE on the Windows 98 CD and there are no cab files. What now?

do you have the computer set to show hidden, system files, and files with known file extensions?

They simply must be there or you couldn't install windows.

Can you take a screenshot and attach it of the root folder for the cd?

Ok, the only way I could find them was to put the CD on my daughter's comp and "search" the drive and it pulled up all the cab files. Too much to put up on here. What do I need to look for? Sorry but I tried to copy and paste it all but it would not work. ????????? :tazz:

Clueless...have looked but cannot figure it out. My daughter will be home pretty quick from school and she will want her comp, so this will have to wait until another time.....I'll try to find what you are asking. Thanks :tazz:

did she find this?

Ultimately, it may be easier to do a refresh install--this is a non destructive install with a windows disk where you install windows on top of itself to repair files--no data is lost
