I caught the notorious bugs while surfing. First message:"SpyGuard Pro runtime error MS Visual C++"
Then it was all downhill from there. Couldn't restore, Browser kept popping up Outerinfo boxes then freezing, now the system takes five minutes to answer a click. I'm not going to @#@% with it.
Gonna clean house! Reformat and reinstall Windows xp from the manufacturer's recovery discs. (eMachines) My question: Are my personal folders and documents to back up and save also infected?
The hard drive keeps churning, I've disconnected this machine from the internet, and am worried that my passwords and data were copied. Thanks for your help!

Hello

Are my personal folders and documents to back up and save also infected?

No they shouldn't be

am worried that my passwords and data were copied.

Your passwords should be fine. This infection doesn't target them. However you may have other infections that do, so it is hard to say for sure.

We can remove this infection if you wish. Let me know if you decide to reformat though
