Hello.

First, I have to say that I am not using IE7, but do not belive that will fix the security issue with BITS. I tried IE7 and reverted months ago. I will go back if anyone can offer information that it will fix this problem. (Actually, I think I'd change to Firefox as I have been planning anyway.) I didn't see any evidence of this on Microsoft's site. I do have the rest of the updates.

There were several spyware infections that the tools I have used so far seem to have cleared up, save two. The big issue is that something is still downloading unwanted things to my computer; potentially more viruses and spyware.
The sdfix report showed an enormous number of tmp files. When I went to that directory, I saw that more were being created as I watched. When we stopped the BIT service, the files stopped appearing. Start the service and the files resume. (It makes my computer painfully slow.) So I'm stopping the service as a bandaid, but obviously need a long term solution. I read some info on this at: http://mxtoolbox.com...te-malware.aspx. I haven't found any info from Microsoft about fixing it. There was one article that suggested changing my account to limited from admin. It claims this problem can't occur on a limited account. I would consider that a band-aid as well, although a slightly better one if it is correct.

Two smaller problems still occur: my bg changes to various screenshots of IE. When I boot, I see my photo without icons. Then it disappears and a random IE screen appears with the icons there.
The other is that my IE toolbars get switched. The address bar is taken away. (I am able to bring it back.)

I ran spy sweeper, Mcafee virus scan, ad-aware SE, SDFix, ATF-Cleaner (successfully 1/4/08, 1/5 it kept crashing), AVG, SuperAntiSpyware, and Panda Activescan. Panda complains about SDFix, but I assume that is not my real issue.

I am attaching a mini version of my sdfix report with only a few of the tmp files. Otherwise the file is too big to post. Also attached are the active scan and AVG reports.
