So here is what I have tried.

Spybot, Adaware, Hijackthis, FixIT (own it), repaired my winsock, sfc /command, registry scrub manual, nothing strange is in run for HKLM or HKCU.

My Specific Problem is recently when I clicked on IE it would not open. I would get an hour glass and then nothing. No error no nothing. So I did everything I knew how to do. I remove spyware and malware on a regular basis so I know many of the tricks and what to look for (obviously not enough).

I figured out that the problem is my about:blank page

I have always set IE homepage to about:blank for safety reasons (I am a very safe internet user).

I can open my computer and type in www.google.com and it will work, and IE comes up. So then I change my default home page to google.com and everything works fine. Some pages like ebay when I enter my username and password and click login it closes IE. Same thing if I type in about:blank.

I cannot figure this out to save my life. I appreciate all of your feedback, my bet is just a format reload at this point but I want to be sure.

Oh, and the registry hack to be able to reinstall IE is a crock of crap. I still get the newest version error even after I have set the registry entry to 0. Darn Microsoft!
