Hi,

I've been driven to despair since the new year. I had a Windows Vista that was spinning perfectly until just after the new year.

Symptoms: continuous disk activity, high percentage of memory usage (>80% of 2GB) without much running, regular peaks of high processor activity: seemed like spyware to me.

I could have gotten it connecting my external disk to someone else's PC. When I run anti-spyware it hangs the PC unless run in safe mode. I could only detect tracking cookies until the last time - I think it was Ewido that detected Win32.Trojan.Killproc which was cleaned but the symptoms still more or less remain (seems to get better when the PC is on for more than an hour). I had once a blue screen and after restart Windows told me there was a hardware problem with a component but when running diagnostics everything checks out.

The trouble began after I installed Nero 8 and around the same time added a Philips NAS to my network. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.
