MBR on external MAXTOR DRIVE

Hey there just an off the way question! Does anyone know if there is a way to wipe a harddrive that has a MBR. file on it or just to even format it. This is a Maxtor external Hard drive I am referencing

The Windows XP CD should be able to reformat any drive. Are you mentioning a corrupt MBR? If it is not corrupted, then reformatting it should be done without any hassle.
