I am new to posting. I usually find what I need without it. So I am not sure if I am
posting this in the right area or not. Anyway, my computer will not boot into safe mode,
which is essential for battling most serious virus infections. I recently had to resolve the
wfvs.exe (Randy.Backdoor) infection but did not have safe mode. This would have
saved me two days of work. I resolved the infection by booting from the original xp
home disc, logging on to the windows installation, and modifying the wfvs.exe file
by taking away system, hidden, and read only attributes. This allowed me to delete
the file, and clean up the mess left behind. However, I still cannot boot into safe
mode. Whenever I try, I select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", hit enter, driver
files load, then a message pops up, "Mode Not Supported" and under this
"H:35.4KHz V:86.9Hz" I have set various resolutions, screen refresh rates, and 16 bit
color configurations, however the same message keeps popping up. I have done
FIXBOOT and FIXMBR with no change. Any help and your time would be greatly appreciated.
