Personally, I would not disable Dr. Watson. It is a system tool and is very useful. If you are having a problem with its reporting, the problem is with what it is reporting and not with Dr. Watson. You need to view the Dr. Watson's log to see what the problem is. See: Troubleshooting With the Windows 98 System Information Utility and MS Windows 98 Advanced Tips for Maintaining Your Computer.

To disable Dr. Watson remove it from the registry.

Open the below folders and keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
Software\
Microsoft\
WindowsNT\
CurrentVersion\

Locate and delete the key AeDebug.

If these are not the same Registry keys, you'll have to do a search for AeDebug.

Warning: Please do a complete backup of the Registry before making any changes. Put it in a folder you can find later should you need to import it to restore Registry to known configuaration.

Possibly you can reverse these steps used to enable Dr. Watson by selecting it and clicking Remove button instead. A lot safer than editing Registry:

Steps to enable Dr. Watson:

Start/Settings/Taskbar & Start Menu...
Click on the Start Menu Programs tab
Click on Add
