I am not a computer guy

I have a Dell Dimension E521, don't laugh...

I'm just wondering if any old SATA DVD Drive will work in it... I already have a DVD Burner, I just want an extra drive...

Thanks!

Yes, you should have the same type of computer I have but with AMD processor instead of Intel.
Just as long as its a SATA drive it will work.

SO... I ordered a dvd drive from a guy off eBay... it is a Toshiba drive, built last year, and came out of a Dell Vostro (or something like that)... and it won't fit... the face is just slightly too big to fit the opening on my machine... the body of the drive fits fine of course, but the plastic face won't... I can't tell if the face can be removed... any suggestions???

Hi,

I'm pretty sure they can be removed, there's plastic clips holding them in place.

A bit of research and I'm sure you'll find the answer, here's a result I found for you to kickstart it.
