I'm about to finish my computer im building in about 2 weeks. Currently i have 1 512mb kingston ram, a soyo kt600 mobo, and my aspire turbo case. I'm about to purchase my video card and if i have enough money im going to buy the ATI Radeon 9600XT. The specs for this card are here. If i cant get enough money in a couple of weeks i might just go with the 9600se located here. Please tell me what you think about these two cards. Particularly the xt one. Thanks. <_<

The XT has much higher core and memory clock speeds, which equal better performance, but what you need depends largely on how you game.

At what resolution do you usually play? Do you use antialiasing and antriscopic filtering?

If you like gaming at high resolution (1280x768 or greater), and/or like enabling the filtering techniques, I would go for the XT.

If you would like to know the truth, i've never played games. I've played some at my friends house and stuff, but i want a good gaming pc to play stuff like halo, counter strike, half life and games like those. I've done websites and stuff mostly until my friend let me play some of his games and got me into building a pc. This will be my first comp that i've built but i know quite a bit about the stuff now.

The 9600SE should suit you just fine. If you have the extra money, the 9800XT is a worthy upgrade--but not necessary.
