Hey. I'm trying to store 1GB of information on my DVDs. When I try to copy my information onto my DVD, I get a message from Windows saying there was a problem in trying to do this operation. As storage media I should be able to store up to 4.7GB of information but I can't. When I go to "My Computer" it reads the drive as CD-ROM. I've updated the driver (through Dell) and when I go to Device Manager I get this information as one of the players: HL-DT.ST DVD +- RW GWA4164B. This to me looks like a DVD player. Any advice? Thanks.

You cannot write to DVDs from Windows XP - you must use a separate program like Nero or Roxio or other similiar programs if you want to write files to DVD.
