My printer, Brother MFC-5460CN is on the network, connected to my laptop through wireless router and cable modem. My OS is Windows XP professional.
I am unable to scan directly using the scan button on the control panel of the printer. Everytime I try to scan, the little LCD screen on the printer says "connecting to PC" and then goes back to sleep. A little window pops up on my PC stating "unable to connect to the device". I visited the Brother website at the following location that described the problem just as mine: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/p...d=mfc5460cn_all
and followed their suggestions step by step but it didn't work. It basically involved disabling the windows firewall and also try to add a port to the exception list of the Windows firewall.
Could I get some help in this regard, because I want to be able to scan directly from my printer by pressing the scan button. I am certainly not good with resolving network issues.
Thanks a lot.
PS: I am able to scan by commanding from my laptop using the software.
