computer keeps shuting off

my computer keeps shutting off every couple of minuts or freezing. everytime i try to run mcfee virus scan it also freezes. any one know whats wrong?

Hi Ashley,
Could you please give us more information:
What kind of computer do you have?
How old is it?
Has it ever been opened up and cleaned? (dust build up)
How long has this problem been going on?
Were there any other problems prior to this?

If you can give us technical information about the computer that would be great. (like how much memory, etc)
