I currently have two power cords running from my 8800gtx to my power supply, I was looking to SLI another gtx, but I'm looking at the cards on Newegg and it looks like they come with 2 5-pin power cords, (from the card to a 5 pin) why is there a difference? And does it make a difference?

I just looked up the XFX version, it seems to have 2x 6-pin connectors. What exact card are you looking at? What PSU are you running?

And I'm slightly confused by the differences you are asking about, can you further elaborate your question?

In pictures, the gtx power cord is a 6 pin (connects to the card) to 4pin PCIe adapter (plugs into power cable that runs out of your power supply) I'm asking if theres a 6pin to 6pin so that I can plug my gtx straight into my actual power supply.

PS. I could be wrong on the # of pins.

First off, you didn't answer my questions, so bear with me:

This picture shows that the BFG Tech version of the card comes with 2x PSU adapters, which will work fine. Therefore, if your PSU doesn't have 4x 6-pin PCI-Express power cables, you can use these adapters to convert 2 molex power cables.



Please, what exact card and PSU do you have/are you looking at? Or do you need help in deciding, are you thinking you may need to further upgrade here?

There is no such 5 pin cable, it's a 6 pin.
Can you list the amps on the 12V rail as well as the peak (or continuous) output in watts. This information can be found on a sticker located on your PSU.

Are you asking if you can split one 6pin connectors into two? While you could likely do this, it would add resistance and you would likely overload your PSU.
