Heres my problem, i was working in BIOS then i saved and restarted nothing pops up on screen so i clear the bios then starts the computer looks fine till its supposed to start booting into windows, instead it says "Warning!!! USB Device over current status detected!!! unplug over current USB device!!! computer will restart in 18 seconds."

Anyone have any idea what the heck this is? By the way the only things plugged into the USB is my keyboard and mouse, and i tried booting with those unplugged with no success...

Specs in the sig.

Hi there,

I hope something here helps. This is a notorious issue with Asus boards. This is a list of solutions that have worked for other people.

First, to get your PC to boot, unplug, remove cmos battery, wait 15 seconds, put battery back and plug back in. Reboot. This does not solve the underlying issue.

For fixes, in no particular order:

- Remove any front panel USB header plugs from MB or media card readers

- Update BIOS

- Go to Older BIOS rev.

- Update USB drivers from Asus CD

Please report back if anything here works.

Check all USB jumpers

I just assembled a system with a ASUS P5K-VM board, and when I first booted it, I got the "USB Device Over Current Status Detected !!" error. After 2.5 hours of trying everything, I noticed a blue jumper lying in the box the board came in. The jumper was used to select if the USB-port is on when the PC is off. When I connected the jumper, the system worked.

Had the same issue on a Crosshair mobo...tried the others that didn't help, but found another that worked:

this motherboard has an 8 pin auxiliary 12v feed, but you CAN use a 4pin 12v plug in it (the left side was originally capped). I got the message with the 8 pin installed...after plugging in only the 4pin, the error disappeared. At a guess the board might be sensitive to the power supplied, so try another power supply, or use the 4pin connector.

I dont know much but I do know I got this message and simply followed the above instruction to remove the CMOS battery however all my jumpers are connected so I just switched them 1 - 2 put the CMOS back in and it booted beautifully. If none of the above fix the error IDK what will.
