Again, after I selected delete and reboot, it says "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been removed by External Process!" and I can't click no, because the only choice is to click ok, after which nothing happens

Let's see what you have on the computer:
Open HijackThis.
Go to ‘config’

What do you think the problem is here? I think that this "info32.exe" just simply doesn't exist....neither do the "xcimzy.exe" or the "avserve.exe" Do you think this "info32.exe" is what causes the problem??

What does "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been removed by External Process!" mean anyway? I think its an error message, as there is a red circle with a white X in it.... and as I told you earlier, I can only choose OK

I've done online scans and scans with Adaware, nothing was found by any software... with the killbox, I found that if I do it in safe mode, I get the error message I posted earlier, but if I do it in normal boot mode, it seems to work and delete the files, so I did that.....but I still see no difference... I thought the files weren't there at the start anyway...

However, everytime I log on, I still get these shortcut things after I deleted them earlier. These didn't come back until I rebooted, even though the website "specialgoods.info" doesn't exist anymore, (or at least something happened to my computer in the healing process that stopped me from getting onto this site". The red circle with an X at the bottom right corner of the screen in the taskbar still exists however, and it still tries to get me onto this site, even if I have no internet connection and I can't access the site anyway, and still gives me warning messages. I also still can't change my homepage....

But at least its looking better, and I hope I'm not bothering you too much. Hope you could help me find the solution soon..... Thanks again...

Heres my final log before I go to bed.......its getting really late in Australia now....so I hope by the time I wake up tomorrow, somebody would've replied and I would be able to fix this problem....

Can you remove the screensaver (along with the girls, sorry). Save it to a disk if you want to re-install them later. But first get them of the computer.

Then remove Xostspy unless you paid for it.

Reboot the computer en post back another log.

The pending message is Killbox's way of letting you know the file is not there, I guess it was removed by previously taken steps.

Can you check to see if any of these folders are on your computer:
Security IGuard
Virtual Maid
Search Maid

OK, done all that...... and I think I dont have the 3 folders you posted earlier...... OK, then, I am really going to bed now..... its nearly 2.30 in the morning here in Australia... I will leave my other computer on, so it'll probably say that I'm online, but I am actually asleep...

Please direct me what to do next....the same problems still exist....shortcuts remain and the red box with an"X" still in the taskbar....trying to get me to go to the site, even though it can't be accessed anymore....

I hope all this can be solved by tomorrow....as I dont have that much time, after Sunday, I will be back at school (I am a boarder).

New programs list with all the girls screensavers gone..

Open HijackThis
Go to ‘config’
Go to ‘misc tools’
Put a check in the boxes next to the button ‘generate start up log’
Then press the button itself. It will open a notepad file.
Copy and past the content of that file here in your answer.
It must be somewhere to find..

Go here and download AntiSpyware.

Have it scan your computer and remove what it can find.

Reboot and let me know how things are now.

I'm currently scanning with Antispyware, MY problem seems to be that I can't delete:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad0179/

from my HJT log.. everytime I tried, It'll come back again...

Does my log look clean other than that? What about my startup log?

What do you think is the problem, causing this red X in the taskbar??

I don't know what's causing it.

Could you try this:
Open Killbox
choose kill on reboot
paste in:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\systr.dll
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

After reboot, open HijackThis again.
Put a check to the R0 entries and press Fix checked.
Reboot again.

Did this help? (I'll stay up for another half hour max...)

I can't use killbox to delete C:\WINDOWS\System32\systr.dll

It gave me "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been removed by External Process!" again...and I checked in that folder and can't find that file...

What to do next?

I don't know what infection is on your computer. I hate that. Still, need to take a nap.

Click here to download eScan's mwav application. Double-click it to run it, select all local drives, scan all files, press 'scan' and when it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. Highlight it, CTRL C and paste it in your next reply.

I'll check back later, don't know if I'll make your deadline though.
