what is the diffference between Windows XP Professional & Windows XP Professional corporate? Are updates helpful to both the systems? which should be installed for a single professional user?

The corporate edition doesn't require activation so it can be installed on more than one computer. They're typically used for site licences so they are far more expensive but for lots of computers they do work out cheaper in the long run.
Apart from that, a standard XP Professional is identical apart from being subject to normal product activation rules, regulations and procedures.
