We want to build a computer for video surveillance. It will be using cd's and be motion activated. We only have access to a phone line. I know this don't take allot of power but will need a cool running PC. What would be your requirements hardware wise. We also are looking into wireless card for a company lie nextel. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you want to live stream a video feed from the computer to somewhere else, you can build any spec you like but you'd need a decent broadband internet connection. Doing this on dial-up is a bit of a no-starter.

Hi Picky,

There's plenty of options to build a cool PC, but do you want it quiet as well? Just make sure you have plenty of case fans (say, 2x 12cm) with good internal air-flow (front blowing in, back blowing out) is usually more than enough for most systems.

Troy.
