Hello all,

Before I start let me for warn anyone that attempts to help me with my problem that I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to computers. I recieved help from here once before on a different computer and had an excellent person who had alot of patience with me, so I am in hopes of finding the same this time.

I have almost a new computer less than 6 months old. It has Vista on it. I am having major problems with pop-ups and it is so slow to open up anything. (it takes a good 3 to 4 minutes just to open the home page.

I have read and follewed the steps to the best of my knowledge before posting this. Please if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what I have done so far:

*Downloaded and ran ATF cleaner

*I did not download and run the AVG anti-spyware because it says it was for windows 2000 and XP only.

*Downloaded and ran Super anti_spyware -- I followed all the steps then after the scan it said SCANNING COMPLETE NO HARMFUL SOFTWARE DETECTED.

*I attempted to run the online Panda active scan but it said operating system not supported.

* I already have the free edition of AVG...it is up to date and is scheduled to run a scan everyday...nothing ever shows up that it has found wrong.

*Windows update...after running this it says no new important up dates are available for your computer (windows is upto date.

*HiJack this...

I rebooted as said, then I ran the scan and this is a copy of the log I saved.

Hello sweetgal,

It's been awhile since the last time I've seen you, it's quite nice to see you around again :)

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O9 - Extra button: PacificPoker4 - {94EDF7B4-4272-4af3-8F8B-4E2F68E225B7} - C:\PROGRA~1\PACIFI~1\pacificpoker.exe
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfar...etup1.0.1.0.cab

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Step 2

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Step 3

Please go HERE to run Panda's TotalScan
  • Select the bubble for Full scan
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • Then the scan will begin
  • When the scan completes, click the Save button on the right of Scan details
  • Save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the TotalScan report

Hello RiP ChAiN

Ok I have followed the steps that you told me to take....Here are the results:

I opened the HiJack this and checked the boxes that you said to check and fixed the problems..I ran the scan again just to make sure the entries were gone and they were....

I then ran the Deckard's System Scan (DDS) Here are the results of that scan:

Hello sweetgal :)

You did that perfect, but there should also be another log located at C:\Deckard\System Scanner\main.txt. Could you please open that file and post the contents here in your next reply? :)

Hello RiP ChAiN

I went back and ran the scan again, in your post you said it would open 2 notepads, after running the scan the only thing that came up is what I will paste here. If I am doing it wrong please just let me know and I will try again.

Thank you so much for your time.

Here are the results of the scan I just ran:

Hello sweetgal :)

As much as I don't want to come back to you empty handed and say there is nothing of concern in your logs, that is the unfortunate case at hand here. There are a couple of rogue poker products and a p2p program installed, but other then that your log is perfect. If you're still getting these pop-ups, can you try to describe what they're advertising, or what they look like? As for your slowdown problem, it's a good bet that your problems are caused by a lack of memory installed on your computer. It looks like you only have 512mb installed right now, which would explain the irritating slowdown problems.
If you have any questions related to what I just said, feel free to ask :)
