I also own a syncmaster 920nx and I have have been having trouble with the screen going black as if it is on standby. If I turn the monitor power off and then back on again the screen will flash on for a split second and then go black again. I thought the problem was with my computer and I kept turning it off by holding the power button and rebooting until it began to stop booting properly. In the end I figured out that the problem had nothing to do with the computer. I hooked up my laptop to the same monitor and encountered the same problems. As a temporary solution I went out and bought a used older monitor at Value Village for $6.99 and the computer is running fine. I'm pretty sure the monitor itself is in need of repair. I am open to suggestions.
