I read the Important Topic post on "must have programs". I dl the following software from the list, . Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware pro and GIMP for Windows and spyware blaster. Can these programs be used with trend micro internet security software installed on my pc? I get an error saying trend micro had a problem and had to clos, does this have anything to do with the other software?

no it should not. I would reinstall Trend and see if that resolves the issue. If it does not, then I would try and get the exact error message and perhaps a screen shot of the problem.
