what would happen if i take vista off and put xp on here would it mess my pc up and make it have problems

Hi hottie2569...

It might mess it up if you can't locate the right drivers you run your hardware on XP. If you can find all the drivers you need, then downgrading to XP shouldn't be a problem. You will, however, have to format your hard drive to accomplish the downgrade...so make sure you have good backups of all your data and that you have the product keys for all the applications that will require them when they are reinstalled.
