I use internet explorer and try to use the updater, but alas, I get this error 0x80248015 and I don't know what it means. Please help!

Can you be a bit more specific please? What upadter are you talking about? Do you mean you are trying to use Windows Update? If so, how are you starting it? Are you clicking on Start then selecting Windows Update from there?

If so, check the date on your computer. That is one of the primary causes of this error.
