For some time now I'm trying to find one suitable browser for my needs . I don't care about Extensions, Themes, plugins and other useless stuff like that .

I need a web browser that doesn't use 100 % CPU, 100 % RAM, 100% Virtual Memory

I tried the latest Firefox 2, Opera 9.25, Maxthon 1 & 2, Slimbrowser, Greenbrowser, Lynx ( grrr .. this was very crappy ) and I am now currently using IE7 which is pretty good but when I open more than 5 tabs ... I kiss my little ram goodbye.

In simple terms I need a resource friendly browser for my computer that can hold about 10 tabs without using too much ram, has Bookmark/Favorite support and one address bar . That's all !

I am sorry you are finding problems with your system.

I think you know the answer to your problem.

Is there any chance you could purchase another stick of RAM as to just run Windows XP/SP2 512 MB is really the minimum you need.

Others will come by and offer their ideas, but I really think you are asking too much to expect you current RAM to cope.

Here is a link to do an Audit of your machine with instructions on what type of RAM to purchase as it is imperative to get the same type when adding new RAM.

Could you tell us the size your HD and how much free space is showing?

with those system specs even adding ram won't solve the cpu usage problem...
and tallin is right...512MB should be considered the minimum to run xp...

I wouldn't go by the requirements as given by M$ for XP:

System Requirements for Windows XP Service Pack 2

Leaves little for doing much else but running XP.

Classic example of wanting the moon on a stick. Anybody who can open 10 tabs on 256Mb of memory is asking for trouble.
Throwing more memory at it will help a bit, but ultimately programs are so big and resource-hungry that a 750Mhz processor and associated hardware just can't cut it anymore.

As to XP SP2 requirements, anybody who runs XP in 64Mb of memory needs their head examining.

well I guess your right ... 256 SDR and 750 Mhz are not enough to run a simple browser (

I can't add more ram to my system because I only have 2 DIMMs on my mobo ... that are being used by 2 x 128 sdr at PC133 - 133 Mhz :|

And [bleep] no I won't buy 512 SDR because it's rare & pricey ( 512 SDR = 512 DDR2 - I mean the price, not the performance ).

I guess I'll stick with my IE7
