ADDING IP ADDRESS TO HOST FILE

when i add a ip address to my host file, im still getting a message saying"page not found". everyone i know has been able to do this but me. I have service pack2 installed on my xp. Im trying to access this site from another server. I cannot figure this out. pls. help

I don't understand what you are trying to do....is their some reason that you don't want to use good ol dns?
