Hi,

My computer is infected with Malware and Spyware, and it's really annoying me. I have run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and cleaned off a few spyware and tracking cookies, but Windows still detects malware and changed my desktop background to a blue screen with "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clear your computer." I cannot access the desktop properties right now, it's locked.

By the way, the first MalWare I cleaned off was Outerinfo. I basically run the Outerinfo uninstaller. Then a few so called "antispyware" programs were forced to install on to my PC. I unstalled them from Add/Remove programs, and then run an AVG scan and cleanup.

Right now all my Windows actions are locked, such as Right Click -> Properties on anything, Add/Remove Programs, etc. The error message is: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on your computer. Please contact your system administrator."

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS.
