Hi pattilee, welcome to G2G.

We will need more information to have any chance of helping you.
  • You said "After a crash and reformat". That means you formatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP, right?
  • What is the make and model of your computer?
  • Do you have a XP CD or a recovery CD?
  • Did you install the device drivers for your computer after the reformat or did it boot to Safe Mode immediately?
Can you try another Clean Install of XP? If so, follow the directions here: Clean Install - Michael Stevens Tech
