With a 10 Gig HD, it is very possible that it's just full. The disk cleanup program will only delete information that you don't need such as temporary files and the stuff in your recycle bin. Depending on how you use your computer, you may or may not free up much space on your hard drive if you don't have many of these types of files on your PC.

If your HD seems to be filling up by itself, it is very likely that your PC is infected with a WORM virus. These virus's duplicate themselves filling up your Hard Drive and using up any free space you may have had. Run your favorite anti-virus software (with updated virus definitions) to search for a worm.

Something else you may want to try is looking at the files you have on your Hard Drive. Click "Start" and then "Search". In the search field, type "*.*". This will search for and list every file on your PC. Be patient as it will probably take several minutes to finish populating the list. When the search is complete, click the column header for "File Size". This will arrange the files by their size. The largest files should be at the top. Have a look at the files and/or folders found at the top of the list. You may find stuff here that you can safely delete to free up more space.

Also, have you checked the prices for new HD's these days. They are really cheap. You might think of getting a larger HD if you can't find anything you can safely delete.

Good Luck

Ahup,

Please visit the forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top for help with hijack logs. And while you're at it, please download a more recent version of hijckthis

and as someone suggested, 10gb is not much space.

Here is a very nice, easy to use and understand program that will help you track it down
