Ran all of the initial tools and instructions which has help performance greatly but im still having issues with internet explorer randomly shuting down as well as multiple hits on new AVG scans of spyware everytime I re-load. I also un-installed symantec corporate anti-virus 8 because I went with AVG 7.5 however I just have an out of date free version and it does not look like it does anything active like the original post (read here first) describes -- should I pay the retail cost or is their another good free program that will activly monitor??

here is my HT log

Hello Katiemac

Welcome to G2Go. :)
================
The first thing I will need you to do is to Download this anti-virus program and re-install it as it shows as as not being installed at all.

AVG free
========================
After that Please download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

I see that you have some Pirate Bay files on your computer.
This is a known pirating site for cracked software and is currently getting sued for piracy.
Sites like this and Limewire and other p2p programs are known places for viruses and spyware I recommened removing those files and programs installed and stay away from sites and programs such as these.
=================================================================
Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

    • Posted Image

    The above procedure will:
  • Delete the following:
    • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
    • VundoFix backups, if present
    • The C:\Deckard folder, if present
    • The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
  • Reset the clock settings.
  • Hide file extensions, if required.
  • Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
  • Clean System Restore points.

Also delete anything that we used that is left over.
==================================
After that Your log is clean. :)

To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein ->Here
