Before I detail the problem, let me mention I have been able to reproduce this problem on two entirely different computers running WinXP Sp2, so it seems highly likely the open-source program MediaCoder is at fault (sourceforge.net). I have posted this to their bug tracker forum but have not received a response for about a week, so I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight and help me figure out what's going on (because maybe I'm wrong--maybe it's another issue).

If I have Firefox open, when I first run Mediacoder (after just installing it), and I go to "Options" and click "System Information", the program is supposed to pull up a window in my default browser (firefox) and display info about my system. Instead, Firefox asks me if I want to uninstall my McAfee SiteAdvisor add-on; even though I try to exit this, SiteAdvisor still gets uninstalled in firefox. And worse, when I reinstall Siteadvisor, it only stays around as long as I have Firefox open for that session; if I close firefox and then reopen firefox, siteadvisor has completely disappeared again. I can repeat this endlessly--Siteadvisor no longer stays permanently installed.

Also, I can no longer run Azureus--it crashes on startup, and uninstalling/reinstalling with latest version doesn't change anything. Before I ran MediaCoder and used the "system info" menu item, Azureus was working fine.

As a precautionary measure I have run AVG anti-virus, AVG anti-spyware, Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SuperAntiSpyware, and none of them have turned up anything of significance (e.g. a few tracking cookies, etc.). I don't normally like to use "registry cleaners", but I gave Glarysoft Registry Repair a try to see if it could help me (of course I backed up my registry before using it)--still did not help.

Can anyone please help? Here is my HijackThis log in case it helps:
