All of a sudden my computer's internet connection is slow. Is it because of my computer just got something last night that slowed it down? The only thing I did was block two programs from starting up. A nice person on this forum helped me fix my son's laptop and I went to her advice page for speeding up my computer. It said to stop some programs from starting up by typing in misconfig or something like that. That's the only thing I did that was different from yesterday afternoon when it worked fine. I have Spyware Doctor but disabled it so I could do AVG and hijackthis, etc.

Sorry for the long wait, although we try not to let it happen, the forum is busy and sometimes people do slip through the cracks.

After taking a look at your HJT log there isn't any evidence of malware present. General computer slowness without any other symptoms is often not related to malware. Computers slow down as they get older and accumulate files and programs. Take a look at this site and follow the steps detailed there. Test out the PC after that's done and let me know if things are running faster for you.
