trouble installing generals

Hi all
Im having problems installing and running command and conquer generals - same problems as this previous post.

I am running vista on dual core2 processor.

Game seems to install all ok, but when you try to run game it comes up with a techinal error 'sorry a serious error has occured'

Any ideas
