[memnoch]

I tried to use the self-help guides here but seems like jsut when I followed the recommendations I run into a wall and at worse my problem is growing. I tried to remove geebc.dll and webxxxw.dll by following some of the threads here and vundofix was not able to do much about my problem beyond detecting just the gebcxxxw.dll. Now I am stuck again and irritated with ads popping up almost every other minute. Please help Thanks

my computer just finished rebooting. I did not find a log from combo fix but it created a RAR file with the geebc.dll file in it. I ran hijackthis again and here is what it showed. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me right now

I found a folder named Qoobox and under quarantine here is waht is written on "catchme"

1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):

• If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
• To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.

  • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.

Few things left to do

Now lets uninstall Combofix:

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

The above procedure will do the following:

• Delete ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
• Delete VundoFix backups, if present
• Delete the C:\Deckard folder, if present
• Delete the C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
• Reset the clock settings.
• Hide file extensions, if required.
• Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
• Reset System Restore.

• Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
• Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
• Click on the CleanUp! button
• A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
• If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to rech the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
• Click Yes to beging the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
• You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

You now need to update your Java and remove your older versions.

• In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to "Prompt", and ("Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe") to "Disable".
• Next Click OK, then Apply button and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

* MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites and other bad sites.
