I am attempting to assist my former father-in-law with a problem with his computer and attempt to make it run faster. He had McAfee running which was not working properly and which I uninstalled and replaced with Avast. I installed Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5, ran it in safe mode and found he had SpySpotter, StarWare, Zango.AntiSpamBar and Zlob.Downloader. After removing those, it seemed he was running better but was then getting low Virtual Memory errors. I found that Spybot Search & Destroy was not releasing the virtual memory but just kept adding to it until the system crashed. I removed it. I then installed Spyware Doctor which was recently updated and it found files in the windows system recovery so had it remove them but again, this program then ate up the Virtual Memory. Thank you. I also had noticed I posted in the wrong place. I'll try to be patient but I'm sure you can understand my "in-law" dilemma and with him being an "ex" in-law, it only complicates matters so I really want to get this back to him as soon as possible. I've had it since yesterday afternoon.
