Hi,

Windows Defender is running well now.

One other problem is that when I put in a CD or DVD they don't autorun.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Then in the registry editor, go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom

Look for the AutoRun. Double click on it and make sure the value is set to the number 1.

Hi,

Instructions carried out but still no autorun. See photo. [attachment=18824:1.jpg]

I tried one of my own DVDs and Microsoft Office which usually autoruns.

That second value there might be the problem. On the right window, is that second value AutoRunAlwaysDisabled? If so, delete that key. Make a backup of the registry first of course before doing so :) Or create a new restore point to be safe.

Hi,

Registary backed up and instructions followed (hopefully)

See photo:

Although CDs and DVDs are not autorunning there is a lot more activity than before. Cursor flahes and green light on DVD drive flickering but doesn't quite make it into autostart.

I guess we'll need to direct this to the Windows board instead now....they will take it from there. Don't want to get into too much on it here since it's mainly for malware related issues.

Are you having any other issues before I close this topic?
