I'm getting a box when I try to open programs saying;

'The instruction at "0x66006041" referenced memory at "0x66006041". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

Also, not sure if it's related, but when I try to use Ableton Live (music production program) and sometimes Windows Media Player, there is skipping. In fact the audio in pretty much inaudible on Ableton.

Can anyone help?

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. Let's check the shell extensions. Please use the instructions in the following link:
Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Although your issue is not specifically issue, it does apply in most scenarios. Let me know if you need assistance with these instructions.

Ok, I've run that. It's given me a list of all the extensions.

You can look at the Effective usage of ShellExView to resolve right-click problems section of the link I sent to you and it should give you an idea what to do. Basically what you are trying to do is disable all the unrequired extensions.

Another thing is if you have the XviD or DivX codecs, uninstall those. Also any drive emulators. such as daemon tools and Alcohol 120%. should also be uninstalled.

Ok, uninstalled the DivX and I'll get onto the disabling thing.

Disabling the Spyguard seems to have stopped the error messages!!

I'm still a bit of skipping on Media Player and Ableton live is still suffering loss of sound.

Glad to hear the error messages are gone. As for the skipping, how often do you defragment your hard drive? Sometimes a fragmented hard drive can cause playback issues.

I had never done it in the past.
Did it last night and still no change.
Not sure if it's related, but I can't stream windows media videos too.

What do you have running on your system? Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del then click on the Processes tab. How many are there?

You can check any that you don't recognize to see if they are needed at the Black Viper site. If you need help determining what is what, you can post the info here as follows:

• Open a command prompt by clicking on Start then Run, typing cmd and pressing Enter.
• Type tasklist > tasks.txt and press Enter
• Type notepad tasks.txt and press Enter
• Copy and paste all the data in the Notepad window to a reply here.

The problem lie mainly in programs not to do with Microsoft; Skype, Ableton Live, etc...
