I'm afraid to ask this (though I really don't know much AT ALL about this stuff - that's why I'm here asking) - earlier today, I had some plain English script (text) in a Notepad document. Then, suddenly, mysteriously, it was changed to something that looks, sort of, like this (except it's all those code-type symbols):
