I accidentally clicked htt p://ringto nes.kla.na me/ and I got a nasty virus that got past my antivirus program (Avast) and now Windows XP won't stay on for more than a few seconds. I can't access the internet in safe mode and I don't have Hijack This on my computer. I'm on the verge of tears, what can I do? That computer is my livelihood!

Maybe if there is some way to find out the name of the file that comes from that link so I can go in and delete it? I don't know.

thanks a bunch

PS-I hope I posted this in the right forum, I'm panicking and not thinking very clearly.

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

You should post in the malware forum located HERE

Follow the instructions and do as much as you can of the prep work. Please be patient as they are busy.

thanks. I found I have the braviax.exe virus. I'm going to see if I can locate it in safe mode and delete it.
