I just brought my laptop to my friends and his wireless router is requires a WEP key, I got the WEP key and I get connected and it says limited or no connectivity and that the network failed to assigned a network address. any help would be appreciated, thank you

Probably the DHCP is disabled in his router. If the DHCP is enabled it will automatically assign an IP address. If not, you have to do that manually.
