Seriously, I have been trying unsuccessfully now for several days to remove a truly annoying Smitfraud infection. I have run Smitraudfix and HiJackThis over and over again, but, according to SpyBot, it finds both Smitfraud_C and Smitfraud.Generic, but despite trying to eradicate them they just keep returning, often in seconds. I have even watched a dll that Spybot cannot remove (c:windows\system32\ace16win.dll) magically recreate itself when I try to manually delete it.
I followed the recommendations on your "before you post, do this..." page, and managed the following:
ATF - the web page says this file is broken so I could not access it.
System Restore - cleaned out, and only the one I created yesterday is there now.
AVG - installed. Over 200 detections, almost exclusively tracking cookies, but there was NO REPORT for me to capture. Applied all actions, as directed.
