Hello GTG forums,

I have recently bought Hitachi SATA II hard disk with 320 GB @ 7200 RPM and 16 MB buffer memory and it's not recognized in bios. My motherboard is ASUS A7V8X-X which doesnt support SATA II but Hitachi hd's are set by default to function on SATA I mode which is supported by my mobo.

Do you know what can be the problem and what can I do to resolve it?

Thanks,

Bunny. :)

I looked for the specs of this motherboard and nowhere could I find SATA connection. In case I am wrong, please check in the BIOS if SATA is enabled.

Yes, it has sata connection, before I had Seagate Sata I disk and it was working perfectly. Sata in Bios i enabled too, so that shouldnt be the problem. Any other suggestions?

If possible try to connect the disk to another computer to make sure that the problem is not with the disk itself.
