I am having a problem booting Windows XP. Here is the thread copied for what info i have so far. I tried booting the defunct pc with the rc.iso image and it says the same thing.......File is missing or corrupt.....system32\ntoskrnl.exe.

Hello, my name is Shana. When I try to start my computer i get and error reading.....file is missing or corrupt.....
<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
I do not have the XP disc one did not come with my computer. Can this problem be corrected without the disc?

Hi ShanaKaye77, welcome back.

If you created the Cd correctly, then you need to get into BIOS Setup and make sure the CD drive is ahead of the hard drive in the boot order/priority.

How you do this varies from computer to computer. Usually you press F1, F2, F10 or the Del key during the early boot phase and that gets you into Setup. Then you have to find the Boot order or Boor priority setting and make the CD the first device.

Post back with the make and model number of your computer if you need more help.
