Hello. I am getting a freind to build me a computer. I don't know too much about parts and stuff, so I was hoping you guys would be able to help me choose some good hardware for it. I mainly use my computer for gaming. I would also like this computer to last as long as possible. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

P.S. Not to be picky, but could you list an aproximate price too? I just want to now how much it is going to cost me. And it being cheap isn't too important.

Do you have a price range you're working with? You can make a great system for $1000 and an even better one for $10,000 . It helps to have a budget when picking parts.

WEll if u dont want to go through the hassle of building 1(trust me its frustrating if 1 thing dosnet work) ok i would first go to www.dealsdepot.com u can like customize ur computer that u want over there.

I would get a AMD 3000+ or higher, a gig of memory, 80 plus harddrive size, fast cd-r or cd-rw, dvd-rom, dvd-rw drive, atleast a 400W power supply, good cooling, and when you decide on those parts...then comes most gamers problems...choosing your video card.. *ba ba ba bammmm*

if your looking for a better than average card but less than 100bux, then go to newegg.com and look at their pci-ex x16 cards. they got one that comes wit like 3-4 games (one is in the tom clancy series), chip runs at 425mhz and 128mb ddr memory runs at 550mhz. check it out, its cheap and nicer than agp ones that cost that much. but you need a pci-ex16 slot on your mobo so since your building one, then get that. its going to be the way of the future from what I have read. and I have looked at some tests for that card, and it seems to run all games nicely. I think one game that really drives cards, this card got like 20+fps which is no lag.

I helped my friend build his comp and he built an amazing comp for 1000. It handels games great with NO LAG. Its amazing fro the price. here are the specs

2.8 ghz P4
Asus Mobo with Pci-express
512 mb ram...ddr 400 mhz
80 gb HD
D-link wireless 802.11b nic
17 inch monitor
