I had got a emachine computer from a friend because he chopped of the power cord, so he gave it to me. And so i brought it home took it apart and tried to install the 160gb hard drive into my computer, which is a hp and a Disk read error showed up and it wouldn't let me start up. Its a western digital like my hard drive so i figured it would work in my computer. how do i get it to work in my computer?

Change the boot order in the BIOS so it boots off the current drive, not the 160Gb.
Then you can format the 160Gb from within Windows.
The fact it came from a eMachines and you're putting it in an HP is nice to know but irrelevant to the situation.
