My 85 year old father has a repeat of an American Idol show running in the background everytime he goes online. He says he never downloaded anything, nor did he even search or read anything regarding this topic. It is the same show everytime he goes online. I'm going to go over on Sunday to take a look at it for him, but I am not very computer saavy, so I thought I would ask ahead for help. What should I be looking for? When I find it, how do I delete it? I think its pretty funny, but that's because it's not happening to me. BTW, it's the recent tryout where Simon gets up and walks out on a young man, and later comes back and apologizes. My father does have dementia and has significant problems doing much of anything on the computer except for reading and sending emails.
He has windows xp and aol as internet provider. If you need more info, ask. He really wants this fixed. Catara

Hello Catara and welcome to Geeks to Go!

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Regards,

Ax
